Nordic Liaison Partnerships Advisor

Under the overall guidance of the Head of Partnership Development, the Partnership Advisor will focus on further developing our relationships with the Nordic governments and stakeholders to position UNOPS as the main have the following responsibilities:

Support discussions with key partners in the Nordics

• Conduct donor research
• Update outreach plans on donors to define the strategy
• Coordinate internally for input on the strategy and related action plan
• Assist in the implementation of the action plan
• Support communication and discussions with the partner
• Communicate outcomes and achievements from the discussions

Produce and present project proposals

• Based on the previous tasks coordinate with the field offices on the development of relevant proposals for projects and donor funding
• Submit and defend the proposals under the guidance and support of his/her supervisor and related field offices
• Oversee the outcomes of the submission, including follow up clarifications and negotiations
• Inform internally the related parties about the outcome and actions.

Support the team’s outreach efforts

• Identify the relevant people and events that could further the relation
• Based on the above research, supports his/her leadership team in setting up meeting with the partners and participation in relevant events.
• Follow up on previous meetings and events and coordinate internally the related content

• Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in a related field (preference for law, or public policy) is required.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working with governments (preferably in Nordic countries), negotiating proposal, setting up high level meeting and delegations is required. Additional relevant experience is an advantage
• Experience working with at least two Nordic government entities including ministries, embassies and funds on international cooperation and development agenda is required;
• Experience in the private sector for international cooperation projects (ideally focusing on countries of Nordic development interest, fragile states, and/or infrastructure or procurement) is desired;
• Prior knowledge of working in the UN environment, diplomatic missions, funding organizations, ministries of foreign affairs, on cooperation issues. Private sector relations would be an advantage;
• Experience raising funds from/for international organizations in the development sector is highly desired;
• Good technical knowledge of online collaboration systems, including MS SharePoint 2013, including ability to create business solutions by customizing platform features to respond to business needs;
• Proven experience in developing business solutions and collaborating with different audiences e.g. ICT and End-User; HQ and Field etc;
• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills;
• Flexibility and adaptability to work under pressure and meet specific deadlines;
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment;
• Experience managing team is an asset;

• Excellent writing and oral skills in English is required; 
• Excellent writing and oral skills in Finnish is required;
• Knowledge of a second official UN language is an advantage; 
• Working knowledge of Scandinavian languages is an advantage.
