UNOPS is expanding its operational support in South Asia and has established the Nepal Operations Hub (NPOH) in January 2018, overseeing the development and implementation of projects in 7 countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). UNOPS' activities in South Asia grew considerably over the past 4 years, especially in response to the 2015 Nepal earthquakes and the ongoing Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. The hub portfolio also includes government capacity building projects and infrastructure delivery.

The main purpose of this assignment is to facilitate effective and timely reporting and communication on the Nepal Country Programme, and its constituent programmes and projects.

The learning opportunities of the internship are:

-          Understanding of communication and reporting requirements for international development projects, more specifically the usage of logical frameworks, M&E plans, communication plans, factsheets and dashboards.

-          Exposure to UNOPS Nepal’s innovative approach to digital monitoring through the FieldSight app and data visualisation initiatives.

-          Introduction to the UN and UNOPS brands, including training on brand guardianship and participation in UN coordination mechanisms for communication and reporting.

-          Exposure to the Nepal context, including field visits to UNOPS project sites.

-          Mandatory training for all UNOPS personnel on the UN system, human rights, field security, cybersecurity, gender mainstreaming, prevention of sexual harassment and HIV/AIDS issues (including certification).
