information – DOS/OSCM
In May 2015, the DFS Supply Chain Management (SCM) Vision and Strategy
was formally approved by the USG DFS. In January of 2019, post management
reform, the newly formed Department of Operational Support (DOS) established
the Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) with a vision to provide
efficient, agile, responsive, and accountable end to end uniformed capabilities
and supply chain solutions to its global clients and partners.
The Office of Supply Chain Management covers a wide scope of services
including supply chain planning and performance management, logistical support,
procurement, vendor management and supplier diversity, aviation safety, and
uniformed capabilities support. OSCM’s mission is to support its clients and
partners globally to fulfill their mandates by providing the goods and services
they need, when they need them, where they need them and at the best prices.
OSCM is committed to enable successful implementation of mandates given to all
Secretariat entities by anticipating customer demand, providing strategic
services, and organizing for goods and services to be delivered in a timely
manner.
In order to deliver value-driven, forward looking solutions, OSCM has
initiated various strategic initiatives. Among those are two specific
initiatives that would require the temporary assistance of dedicated
subject-matter expertise and project management. The two (2) initiatives
are:
- SCM Learning
Framework
- SCM Category
Management
Background information – Supply Chain
Management - Category Management
The objective is to mainstream and operationalize Category Management
within the UN Secretariat according to the operating model established in the
Category Management project, scheduled to conclude in December 2020. The
primary responsibility is to facilitate the development of individual category
strategies for all categories according to the process defined in the Category
Management Operating Model. Additionally, the initiative will help
transform the roles and responsibilities of relevant resources to a category
management approach, as per the guidance established in the former
project. The desired outcome is that Supply Chain Management across the
entire UN Secretariat can consistently apply and operationalize the Category
Management concept.
This is a
position in UNOPS for supporting projects carried out for or in the United
Nations Secretariat. The incumbent of this position will be personnel of UNOPS
under its full responsibility.
