Driver Responsibilities
The Driver will be responsible for maintaining regular systematic technical inspections of all UNOPS-SSOC project or CSS vehicles, especially those coming from the field or those heading out on a field mission. He will ensure that vehicles are regularly checked, equipment in vehicle inspected, damages reported and regular maintenance is conducted.
- Receives the vehicles to be inspected;
- Checks the technical condition of the vehicles on an ongoing basis;
- Undertakes small repairs as much as possible;
- Carries out regular small services of each vehicle as and when required;
- Recommends any large necessary service/repairs to the PM/Logistics Officer;
- Takes care of the Work Orders before delivering the vehicle for service;
- Collect the vehicles from service/repair shop and performs quality control checks on the workmanship;
- Drives the vehicles from the office to the service area and vice-versa;
- Keeps the Data Input Clerk aware of all vehicle-related information;
- Receives damaged/ broken vehicles, spare parts, updates the stock files accordingly;
- Updates the vehicle responsible officer regarding damaged vehicles;
- Ensures that CSS dispatch office has all spare keys available;
- Ensures that vehicles are equipped with trip tickets, waiver forms, etc.;
- Checks the serial numbers of HF and VHF Comms equipment in each vehicle;
- Informs the Data Input Clerk of all the changes with radio data;
- Regularly inspects vehicles and ensures that all vehicles are supplied with standard equipment and recommends the purchase of missing equipments
- Provides reliable and secure driving services by a) driving vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel; b) collecting and delivering mail, documents and other items; and c) driving/operatingconstruction machineries at site and carrying out repairs when needed;
- Ensures proper use of the vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
- Ensures the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle by checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tries, etc; performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs; and ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean;
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts;
- Ensures that immediate steps are taken as required by UNOPS rules and regulations in the case of any accidents;
- Monitors fuel consumption records of the project vehicles, maintains stock levels of vehicle spare parts and produce periodic reports with recommendation on improvement actions;
- Provides reliable and secure driving services by a) driving safely road maintenance machineries and equipment during repairs works, b) properly maintain all machineries after usage;
- Performs diagnostic inspections, problem evaluations, and necessary repairs on automobiles;
- Facilitates and identifies parts and tools needed for repair works, inspection and monitoring of operational maintenance carry out by garages.
