The Senior Enginner is a primary source of
technical expertise in the organization and provides leadership and
authoritative advice for UNOPS practitioners of sustainable
infrastructure. The incumbent will
furthermore lead the SIPG's efforts to engage, establish and maintain technical
partnerships and linkages.
The Senior Engineer contributes to
knowledge sharing, strategy development and operational advice within the
practice, working with a productive and collaborative approach, with colleagues
at all levels and across all offices of the organization.
1. Technical Advice
The incumbent ensures that infrastructure
practitioners are provided with accurate and timely advise and guidance on
matters relating to sustanable infrastructure.
The incumbent is responsible for the provision of expert advice to
internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and external
partners.
2. External Technical Resources
The Senior Engineer will lead the efforts
to identify, establish and maintain strategic relationships with external resources,
including private sector infrastructure companies, academia, public
institutions, etc to support UNOPS to provide better quality infrastructure
services through improved technical information and skills, access to relevant
infrastructure networks, etc.
The incumbent will furthermore be
responsible for setting standards and providing advice and guidance on
establishing links to regional or local infrastructure resources,
that meet the corporate requirements and
highest standards of quality in the field of sustainable infrastructure, and
putting in place long term agreements where feasible, to support national
capacity development.
3. Embedding sustainability
The incumbent contributes to the
implementation of UNOPS leadership position on sustainable infrastructure that
helps UNOPS partners reach their own sustainability goals and provides
infrastructure that benefits the wider community and environment. The incumbent will promote sustainability in
UNOPS projects at all stages and work to setcorporate best practice in this
field, including contributing to UNOPS cross cutting objectives..
4. Professionalization of UNOPS
infrastructure
The
Senior Engineer plays a key role in the quality and standards agenda for the
SIPG, enabling innovation and continuous improvement of policies and
tools. The incumbent will keep abreast
of, and be adept in, contemporary industry best practices as they impact
corporate objectives and will contribute to UNOPS efforts toward further
external certification in the field of sustainable infrastructure. The incumbent plays a key role in knowledge
sharing in the infrastructure practice, making expert contribution to knowledge
sharing, recruitment, training and capacity development of the global
infrastructure practice.
