Policy Advocacy Intern

The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) was established in 1990 and mandated by name in United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/45/181.The WSSCC Secretariat is hosted by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and aims to accelerate the achievement of sustainable sanitation, hygiene and water services for all people, with special attention to the unserved poor, by enhancing collaboration and coordination of all sector stakeholders. The Policy Advocacy Intern will work with the Policy Advocacy department, under the supervision of the Senior Technical Officer, Policy Advocacy. 

• Coordinate on a regular basis with WSSCC Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Trainers, supporting logistics (including pre-training planning), follow-up and data collection
• Perform duties as requested contributing towards the timely development, production and delivery of reports and presentations in the Policy and Advocacy department. 
• Keeping a catalogue of all MHM materials with support from the production team ensuring there is enough before each training intervention
• Assist with the dissemination of WSSCC reports, presentations, information, etc to main stakeholders of the Policy and Advocacy Department. 
• Contribute to WSSCC’s social media platforms by assisting the team to develop regular high quality content, slideshows, including video for twitter, Facebook, Yammer and Community of Practice
• Assist the WSSCC communications department to develop quality content for the WSSCC website where necessary
• Assist with coordination and organisation of internal and external events. Participate at meetings and events, as required.
• Support the larger Policy Advocacy department portfolio of work.
• Perform other duties as required by the Senior Technical Officer.

• Applicants are not required to have professional work experience but experience in relevant areas is highly desired.
• Mastery of Microsoft Office 2010 is essential. 
  
  

Fluency in  English is required. Knowledge of a second language (preferably French) is an asset.

• Ability to act independently with a minimum of supervision. Specific assignments may be reviewed while in progress; however, the majority of tasks are reviewed upon completion. Routine duties are performed independently.

• Proven ability to conduct independent research and analysis, identify issues, and recommend solutions. Familiarity with UN and UNOPS rules, regulations and policies.
