The UNOPS Haiti office supports international partners and the Haitian Government in their work to improve lives following the 2010 earthquake. UNOPS project managers and their local employees are helping to check the safety of damaged houses, build transitional shelters for homeless families, provide cleaner toilets for those living in camps, clear canals of debris to prevent floods, repair roads, and construct maternity centres and schools.

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Logistics Administrative Associate, the Logistics & Transport Clerk manages and ensures the provision of efficient and timely logistic and transportation support services to the Project. The Logistics and Transport Assistant promotes a client, quality and results-oriented approach.

Summary of Key Functions:

• Support to knowledge building and knowledge sharing

1.    Ensures provision of reliable logistics support and asset management, focusing on achievement of the following results:

• Adequately maintain property records for the office as well for projects
• Assistance with timely and effective customs clearance

2.  Provides transport and technical services, focusing on achievement of the following results:

• Maintenance of vehicle management system in accordance with UNOPS vehicle management policy and procedures.
• Proper maintenance, servicing and repair of all office vehicles for top performance and safe operating conditions
• All official transport needs of Management and office staff met with accompanying security arrangements.
• Daily vehicle log on petrol consumption and mileage.
• Implementation of a repair and maintenance system for all office equipment including EDP equipment, and generators, etc.
• Efficient building management and maintenance activities.
• Implementation of a power policy in line with capacity of the city power and generators.
• Assessment of contract services (cleaning, security, taxi, courier, etc.) in view of improving service level and/or identifying better solutions;
• Effective utilization of office resources in a most cost-effective manner.

3.    Provides support to knowledge building and knowledge sharing, focusing on achievement of the following results:

• Participation in the trainings for the programme, operations and projects staff on logistics and transport related subjects.
• Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

• The key results have an impact on the execution of the logistics, transport and technical services in terms of timeliness, cost-effectiveness and quality of work completed.  Accurate data entry, presentation of information and client-oriented approach enhances UNOPS capability as an efficient and first-class service provider.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 3 years of administrative/operational experience in logistics and administration support, freight forwarding and inventory management.
• The candidate should have demonstrated capacity to meet performance indicators, and delivery results is required. 
• Ability to work with computer and office software packages (MS Office 2003 and/or newer versions) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages is an advantage.
• Fluency in written and oral English and French
