Under the supervision of the Head of Business Solutions, the Business Architecture Lead will be responsible for managing and mentoring the Business Architecture Team. The Business Architecture team will act as the single point of contact for the all business function within UNOPS. The position is a senior member of the team and is responsible for hand-on work in collaborating with business functions to understand the core business need and to ensure that the solution delivered by ICT addresses the need and results in improvements in the form of increased effectiveness, efficiency, or differentiation for UNOPS products and services.

1. Provides
leadership and management of the ICT Business Architecture function
- Acts as a mentor for the team and provide expert
guidance to the team on relevant functional and technical matters
- Embeds a spirit of learning and continuous
development within the team to ensure continued professionalisation of services
provided and fine-tuning of professional craftsmanship
- Sets team objectives, performance measurements,
standards and results expected to ensure timely and client focused services.
Monitors implementation and oversee progress
- Establishes team priorities, and supervise the
implementation of work plans
- Promotes teamwork and collaboration by providing
the team with clear direction, objectives and guidance to enable them to
perform their duties responsibly, effectively and efficiently
- Fosters a positive work environment, respectful
of both men and women, and ensure that the highest standards of conduct are
observed
- Ensure coordination and open communication and
activities between ICT functional and technical teams
2. Develops
and maintains the UNOPS enterprise-wide Business Architecture
- Develops and defines the UNOPS Business
Architecture in close collaboration with the Enterprise Architecture and
Platforms team
- Defines Business Architecture Principles based
on the IT Strategy and industry best practice. The principles will apply to all
IT projects and architecture-related work
- Defines and ensures adherence to Business
Architecture standards as well as standards for requirements gathering,
analysis and documentation
- Maps out business capabilities and business
functions required to address the strategic goals as well as operational needs
of the organisation
- Maps out systems capabilities required to
deliver business capabilities and ensures interconnection between systems
capabilities and existing or proposed systems
- Develops and controls Master Data Management and
related processes, including processes and procedures to ensure data integrity
and data validation for master data elements throughout all UNOPS business
applications and ensures adherence to the same
- Promotes the use of common / standard processes
for use across the UNOPS Business Architecture to enable consistency and
standardised approaches to common business needs / scenarios
3. Gathers and
documents requirements and performs analysis to identify key business needs
- Leads requirements and analysis for the HR and
Payroll function or at least one of the key functional areas within UNOPS
(Finance, Procurement, Project Management, HR and Payroll)
- Assesses client needs utilizing a structured
requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes)
- Analyzes client operations to understand their
strengths and weaknesses to uncover opportunities for improvements
- Conducts requirements workshops and meetings to
gather requirements from the business function
- Identifies business needs and benefits of the
change in the business process and ensure separation from preconceived
solutions
- Produces documentation of the business need,
benefits of change, and detailed requirements
4. Collaborates with business functions to perform data
and process design
- Leads data and process design for the HR and
Payroll function or at least one of the key functional areas within UNOPS
(Finance, Procurement, Project Management, HR and Payroll)
- Produces process and data flow design in close
collaboration with the the relevant / primary business function concerned as
well as other relevant business functions that may be impacted by the change in
the process
- Ensures that requirements and process design
span across wider value delivery processes
- Negotiates with business functions to drive the
potential realisation of tangible benefits from changes to business processes
- Makes recommendations and demonstrate how to
best utilize UNOPS business systems to accomplish business objectives
5. Coordinates between business functions and ICT to act
as the single point of contact for the business
function and to ensure that the
solution designed meets business needs
- Acts as the primary liaison between relevant ICT
teams for requirements relating to the HR and Payroll function or at least one
of the key functional areas within UNOPS (Finance, Procurement, Project
Management, HR and Payroll)
- Provides inputs to the Solutions Design team to
assist in the development of appropriate solutions
- Assists in production support by investigating
reported application problems and works with ICT functional and technical
specialists to test, diagnose, analyse and isolate the root cause of problems.
Coordinates further diagnosis and tests as necessary and recommend workarounds
where appropriate
- Troubleshoots existing information systems to
identify errors or deficiencies and develops requirements for addressing the
same
- Provides functional support in the development
and review of design activities for system improvements, changes, enhancements
and upgrades
- Assists in the development of acceptance
criteria, test scenarios and test cases for functional testing of solutions
delivered by ICT
6. Creates training materials and deliver training to
functional experts within business functions
- Identifies training needs for functional experts
within business functions
- Develops and facilitate and/or conduct training
sessions for functional experts / trainers with the business function
(workshops, webinars, webcasts, one-to-one, online)
- Maintains and updates training material to
ensure that it is current and relevant
7. Embeds
relevant knowledge management and innovation within the ICT Business
Architecture function as
well as across the organisation
- Contributes to the development of internal
capacity across the organization in the area of ICT
- Constantly monitors and evaluates UNOPS
policies, procedures, methods, tools and associated systems to ensure its
utility, applicability and efficacy
- Recommends new policies and procedures and
introduce innovation and best practices in business operations to enhance
services
- Leads / organises training and awareness /
showcasing events and design / set training agendas to build capacity of
stakeholders across the business
