Content
and methodology of supervision: The Chief of Staff will be supervised through
individual meetings with the supervisor, weekly team meetings, and through
periodic performance appraisals.
Duties and
Accountabilities
The
Chief of Staff’s role is to act as a confidante and advisor to the Chief Executive,
acting as a sounding board for ideas and ensuring an enhanced efficiency and
structure across the organization. S/he is also expected to provide strategic
advice and guidance on key developments within the sector and ensure the
appropriate policy approaches are
developed to meet the SEforALL mission and objectives. As a result of developing
and maintaining research, s/he would be expected to develop initiatives that
ensure that the SEforAll partnership acts as a catalyst for the sector, and
collaborates with partners on developing evidence based approaches and support.
The
role is an integral part of the management team, providing input on strategy
and ensuring organizational goals are achieved through well-coordinated,
team-oriented manner. The Chief of Staff is expected to provide programme
management support for priorities in the 2018 work plan, including the
electrification accelerator, preparations for the CEM, potential meetings of
oil and gas CEOs with the UNSG, and Cooling for All. S/he also ensures teams have
what they need to deliver on their work plans and that they are working across
the organization effectively.
S/he
should be able to accurately reflect the CEO’s position in internal meetings to
help drive understanding of her views. Moreover, s/he works behind the scenes
to solve problems, mediate disputes, and deal with issues before they are
brought to the Chief Executive. S/he equally ensures CEO’s time is leveraged
most effectively in a meeting context; ensuring meeting objectives are
realistic and preparations are appropriate.
In
addition to the above, The Chief of Staff will be responsible and focus on the
following issues:
- overseeing the team leading on
country engagement and providing guidance on connecting emerging Action Agendas
and Investment Prospectuses with finance for implementation.
- engaging with SEforALL’s Finance
Committee, convening an industry body, and working with donors and other
stakeholders and providing senior representation for SEforALL at multilateral
and other meetings as directed by the SRSG and CEO of SEforALL.
- supporting the preparation of the
SEforALL Forum.
- identifying
and taking on ad hoc strategic projects - everything from defining new
opportunities to executing cross-functional initiatives, and closing the gaps
in business and operations.
- identifying
and elevating those issues about which the CEO should be aware and framing/positioning
ideas to resolve the problem and mitigate the risk.
- taking
leadership on the knowledge management strategy and ensuring it supports the achievement of
SEforALL objectives. This also includes a roadmap for implementation.
- Overseeing
and championing the development of a learning, collaborative and outcome-driven
performance culture, within the SEforAll partnership and with partners.
