Reporting Analyst

UN Environment develops sustainable development and environment management projects and supports their implementation in Haiti since 2009. At present the majority of the UN Environment’s portfolio is concentrated in the South Department. Key focus areas include protected area creation and management, marine environmental management, forestry, agroforestry and agriculture, and sustainable energy. The current UN Environment Haiti project portfolio is valued at approximately US$40 million.

The programmatic areas in the South of Haiti are financed by different funding sources. Bilateral funding from Norway through Macaya Grand Sud project is complemented by Global Environment Facility and Agence Française de Développement (AFD/FFEM) funding.

Given this increased financing and intensified activities, UN Environment Haiti is looking for a Reporting Analyst to support the work of the Head of Office – Port. The emphasis of the proposed role will be on donor reporting and follow-up.   

The purpose of the assignment is fourfold:

Project reporting: to assure timely reporting according to donor requirements, in particular as regards the Macaya Grand Sud, GEF Cote Sud, AFD/FFEM and new projects to be initiated.

Project Support : field follow-up of project progress and their delivery of results according to project objectives.

Support to communications: to provide substantive inputs to UN Environment communications regarding its work in Haiti.

The Reporting Analyst will work under the supervision of the Head of Office in Port Salut and support in the implementation of the project. 

He/She will therefore deliver the following outputs:

• A. Project Reporting:
• Coordinate project reporting to donors for three projects being implemented by UN Environment in South Haiti in close coordination with M&E officer;
• Ensure that reports are produced to a high quality, and are submitted as per the required schedule of reporting to different donors
• Coordinate UN Environment internal reporting processes for these three projects
• Implement active mentoring of national project staff on the areas identified above

-          B. Project Support:

• Analyze partner contracts by develop terms of reference, complete due diligence requirements for partners, in coordination with Thematic Leads, follow up on partner reports and deliverables.

• Support the development of, and follow up to Haiti team on team biannual workplans under guidance of Head of Office
• Establish and maintain project results files to gather and document key results emerging from the project
• Implement active mentoring of national staff

• C. Support to communications:
• Produce high quality communications and visibility materials in French and in English
• Prepare articles to increase UN Environment visibility; manage UN Environment Haiti social media accounts; oversee preparation of short videos and photo stories; address ad-hoc communication requests from regional offices and UN Environment HQ
• Any other tasks that may be required

Education:

• An advanced university degree (Master’s Degree) preferably in Environmental sciences, biology, environmental law, international affairs or relevant to the role and functions is required.
• An additional 2 years of relevant work experience in combination with a relevant first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) may substitute for the requirement for a Master’s degree.

Experience:

The following minimum experience:

• This position requires 2 years of experience (or more depending on academic credentials) in a similar field with a professional background in environmental affairs.
• Experience in technical and professional writing for a variety of environmental and policy audiences.
• Experience in reporting and report writing.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

Language:

• Fluency in French and English is required (both oral and written). Knowledge of an additional UN language is an advantage.  

The following  is considered an asset but not mandatory:

• Familiarity with the UN system and culture and in particular with UN peace operations or humanitarian operations
• Prior experience working in Haiti
• Understanding of grassroots rural development issues in fragile states.
• Field experience in insecure environments.
• Experience in capacity building and/or teaching/training.
• Previous exposure to cross cultural and multi-ethnic working environment
