Explosive Remnant of War Risk Education Associate

Working independently but with overall supervision and technical guidance from the UNAMID ODO Deputy Programme Manager, the incumbent will perform the following functions:

• Support Risk Education (RE) projects activities implemented by Ordnance Disposal Office (ODO) within Darfur;
• Track Risk Education team activities between ODO, National Mine Action Centre (NMAC) and other national/international organizations;
• Coordinate Risk Education training to ensure that implementing agencies are trained to deliver RE according to International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), the National Technical Standards and Guidelines (NTSG), the organizations RE Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and any other guiding documents;
• Participate in monitoring and evaluation of ongoing RE activities of the implementers’ management and teams;
• In collaboration with NMAC and relevant RE implementing agencies, facilitate the coordination and liaison with appropriate Government of Sudan (GoS) authorities, such as education and health sectors, to ensure continued integration of RE into their systems as appropriate;
• Collect data and reports of all RE activity and coordinate their inclusion in the information management system for mine action (IMSMA);
• Prepare RE materials addressing the different needs of the affected communities across Darfur;
• Conduct accreditation of RE implementers as required;
• Assist with the transitional planning for the handover of RE activities to NMAC and GoS agencies where applicable in States of Darfur; 
• Draft weekly and monthly narrative reports on RE activities delivered by all implementer’s teams within Darfur for Programme Sections inclusion in the reports for UNMAS HQ;
• Draft weekly/monthly reporting on RE activities as required for NMAC;
• Assist ODO Programme Section with gathering RE information for RE related grants including; drafting of Call for Proposals, evaluation of proposals, drafting of Grant Support Agreement, monitoring routine reports, completion of grant reports as required;
• Facilitate and attend RE Technical Working Group meetings and workshops and provide follow up as needed;
• Deliver Safe and Secure Approaches in Field Environments (SSAFE) trainings for UNAMID, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) and UN Agencies as required;
• Perform any other duties as required by ODO senior management.

• Secondary Education (high school or equivalent) with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience or; 
• First Level University degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in development, humanitarian affairs, project management, social science or other related field with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience. 

• Relevant experience is defined as experience in operations, development, risk education or monitoring & evaluation;
• Experience in Explosive Remnant of War (ERW) Risk Education or Mine Risk Education is required;
• Minimum of three (3) of experience in the usage of computers and MS Office is required;
• Experience in drafting and report writing is required;
• Knowledge of UN Staff Rules and Regulations is desired.

• Fluency in English (writing, speaking and reading) is required;
• Fluency in Arabic (writing, speaking and reading) is required;
• Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
