Internal Communications intern , Multiple positions

The intern will work in the Communications Group under the direct, overall supervision of the UNOPS Internal Communications Specialist and will assist in the implementation of UNOPS internal communications strategy. UNOPS is committed to achieving a truly diverse workforce.

Specific intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Under the overall guidance of the Internal Communications Team Lead the Internal Communications  Intern will be responsible for:

1. Monitoring and assisting with management of internal communications channels
2. Supporting content development, maintenance and periodic updating of UNOPS intranet in coordination with the Internal Communications team
3. Supporting internal event management and coordination of working groups charged with developing corporate positions for key events;
4. Assisting with the monthly internal newsletter, including planning, content coordination and technical set-up
5. Identifying web translation needs on an ongoing basis and liaising with translators
6. Adjusting information architecture of the UNOPS Intranet and improving user experience
7. Contributing to internal reports on positioning strategies;
8. Supporting the preparation of briefing materials for UNOPS senior management’s internal engagements;
9. Conducting ad hoc research in preparation of major internal events relevant for UNOPS; and
10. Performing other related duties as required.

In performing her/his responsibilities, s/he will work closely with the Internal Communications Team, other personnel and interns in the Communications Group, as well as communications and project/specialists, personnel and interns in UNOPS offices throughout the world.

• Understand, identify, prepare and maintain databases and internal documents concerning internal events

• Completes own assignment and monitors self-progress thereby making contribution to team goals. Is dependable in times of crisis

• The candidate must be currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a Bachelor/Master’s Degree in a relevant area, preferably in communications, Public Policy, International Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Political Science, or International Relations,  or have graduated from such studies within three years prior to the application date of the internship.

Experience

• The ideal candidate would have a combination of private and international public sector experience, including in the following areas:

1. Strategic planning and development
2. Event management
3. Data analysis
4. Website and intranet experience
5. Carrying out intranet training
6. Knowledge management/sharing 

• The candidate should also have extensive knowledge of, and experience with, Microsoft Office programs, particularly with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word. Knowledge of SharePoint and database software, an asset.

• Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; 
• Working knowledge of Spanish or French is considered an asset.
