The UNOPS Hub in Amman implements projects on
behalf of UN agencies and bilateral donors and in close coordination with the
Government and national authorities. With an established presence across the
region, the office runs operations including large-scale procurement, project development
and technical management, and provides financial, human resources and
infrastructure-related services. The functional objective of UNOPS Hub in Amman
is to deliver its projects in an efficient and effective manner and in line
with the principles, rules and regulations of UNOPS, so as to achieve the
outcomes sought by the clients.
The incumbent is responsible to abide by
security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN
Security Management System and that of UNOPS.
UNOPS is committed to achieving a fully diverse

The
UNOPS Sub-Regional Operational Hub in Amman is based in Amman, Jordan and has
sub-offices in Baghdad and Erbil in Iraq. The office also manages projects in
Jordan, Syria and Yemen. UNOPS provides a range of project development,
technical management and infrastructure-related services in Iraq, supporting economic
recovery and development, reconciliation and civil society, elections, human
rights and rule of law, and health, water and sanitation.
The OPCW-UN Joint Mission in Syria to destroy all
Category 1 Chemicals declared by Syria will conclude its work on 30 September
2014. As per 1 October 2014, UNOPS will be responsible for the provision of the Equipment and Services to the OPCW Mission in Syria,
which is required for the Destruction of 12 Chemical Weapons Productions
Facilities by the Syrian Arab Republic.
