Context and
Objective of Assignment:
Our work is currently supported by a group of
leading sovereign donors (national government ministries and agencies) who have
been instrumental in enabling SEforALL’s work since our inception, initially as
a United Nations initiative (2011-2016) and since 2016 as a ‘Quasi
International Organization’ (QIO) incorporated in Vienna under Austrian law.
Our Administrative Board has approved a plan to grow the organization over the
next three years in order to meet demand from national governments, the private
sector and civil society stakeholders, targeting annual revenue growth from
apprpximately US$12m to US$20m in three years.
In order to resource this plan, SEforALL is
working to build and diversify our funding base, with a particular focus on
developing new funding streams from the world of philanthropy (i.e. charitable
foundations and high net worth individuals), from corporate sponsorships for
events and aligned projects, and from maintaining and growing our group of
leading sovereign donors. We have already begun to add foundations to our group
of Funding Partners, including Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Wallace
Global Fund, Dietel Partners and the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program (K-CEP,
and initiative of Climate Works Foundation).
To continue to build our
funding base, our Partnerships team at SEforALL is managing a process of
outreach to new philanthropies and other prospects internationally, requiring
us to develop new relationships, describe with clarity our organization’s work,
expected impacts and funding requirements, and in the process develop
compelling materials ranging from letters of introduction through to full
funding proposals and budgets relating to the organization overall, or to
flagship projects (we divide our work into ‘workstreams’ and ‘interventions’).
In addition, our team is taking a lead in ensuring that we are providing timely
reports and other information to our current philanthropic donors.
We believe that partnerships are
essence of SEforALL. Through our network, we provide a neutral space for new
decisions and actions to move ‘further, faster – together’. We build on our existing
partnerships while identifying new partners that can assist in delivering
SEforALL's objectives and where we can support their leadership in return. Our
partnerships work to catalyze action ‘on the ground,’ to promote leadership and
to help move government energy plans forwards. The advertised role would join a
team responsible for growing and fostering our partnerships internationally.
