Application Developer

This is a position in UNOPS for supporting projects carried out for or in the United Nations Secretariat. The incumbent of this position will be a staff member of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Under the supervision of the Chief RASO GSC, the Application Developer will work to deliver innovative tools for DOS Aviation Safety Programme Integrated Data (ASPID) Sharepoint-2013 and its associated mobile application (iOS and Android), in a SCRUM-based development framework.

SharePoint application

• Develop new modules / functionalities within the existing ASPID SharePoint 2013 E3 site, using a mixed of code and no-code applications;
• Implement changes and solve bugs/glitches in the SharePoint platform, according to specifications provided by the Project Management Team and the adopted design
• Provide technical advice and inputs for improving SharePoint solutions to address issues related to performance and troubleshooting.
• Perform technical review and testing of new functionalities and when upgrades / patches are applied, for business applications ensuring that quality and adherence to coding standards and practices, that business applications work as intended and making sure the applications are optimized in terms of performance and usability,
• Within the system technical limitations, design and implement interfaces to other aviation related systems/DB to integrate information from other systems/interfaces/databases.
• Ensure high graphical and UX standards are met and brand consistency is adhered to as specified by the Project Management Team
• Maintain detailed technical documentation focusing on documenting the solutions for easy troubleshooting and error fixing, and documenting codes and the no-codes used in the development of SharePoint applications.
• Assist RASO GSC in the development of documentation for the deployed solution including user guides, quick reference guides and training material for the solution
• Perform other duties as required

• Secondary Education Required. University Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology and Information Systems or Management Sciences an asset and may substitute for relevant years of working experience.

• A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in SharePoint Development
• Knowledge of the following technologies: SharePoint 2013, Visual Studio, MS SQL, JavaScript, .Net, XML is required;
• Experience in mobile application (iOS and Android) development is required

• Knowledge on Xamarin is an asset;
• Knowledge of any reporting tool to validate data and generate reports (PowerPivot, BI) is desirable;
• Knowledge and understanding of Web Service API’s and Access Database especially regarding their integration to SharePoint is desirable;
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development is an asset.
• Experience in the aviation related field or in any aviation related project is an asset.

• Fluency in oral and written English is required.
• Working knowledge of other languages is an asset. (French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Italian.)
