Intern Project Management

• Provide operations support to the implementation of programmes and projects activities;
• Assist and provide administrative and substantive support in the organization of events, meetings, conferences etc.;
• Support in conducting research and collecting data as requested;
• Provide logistical and coordination support to the team as needed;
• Work together with GMS PMs and SGP local personnel on the review of potential SOP improvements; lead virtual think tanks and knowledge management actions to improve operational practices within the team and it’s programmes.
• Provide support to the organization of regular and ad-hoc meetings; prepare minutes and summaries of actions to be taken, and track progress on planned issues and follow-up with focal points.
• Provide basic analytical support regarding administrative, human resources and finance issues and trends for GMS
• Contribute to the overall work of the team and take on additional tasks as and when needed.

• Assist in establishing business plans, priorities, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) benchmarks, delivery targets and performance standards for the assigned portfolio
• Assist in preparation of procurement tenders, solicitation processes, and contract management
• Assist in preparation of grant proposals, drafting evaluation reports, and grant monitoring with the SGP county programmes
• Prepare contract documents and letter of agreements with institutions and UN agencies; administer and monitor contracts and agreements and process amendments
• Support the the country programme personnel in administrative tasks and other ad-hoc tasks

• Help ensure the effective capture, tracking, and organization of information and sharing of information
• Assist the facilitation of the systematic accumulation and sharing of knowledge and experience related to project management, lessons learned and best practices.
• Carry out web, database and document searches for relevant knowledge and information on emerging areas to enhance the knowledge products, in environment (e.g. Sustainable infrastructure, Climate Change adaptation, etc.) and any other relevant area/initiative to which grant mechanism can be applied

The above is only a preliminary outline of potential tasks, which may be revised and/or added in view of emerging exercises, or necessary tasks, such as facilitating workshop preparation or communication tasks with different stakeholders.

• Currently enrolled in a university programme such as Bachelor, Masters or Ph.D. (or the equivalent) or have graduated from such studies within three (3) years prior to the applications date of the internship.

• Computer literacy with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite desired  
• Excellent organizational and communication skills; attention to detail; and determination to meet deadlines is an asset

• Fluently in English required with advance written and verbal skills;
• Knowledge of other UN languages is desirable.
