Background information - Regional Technical Roster
As the Asia Region (AR) continues to develop a pipeline for future projects, it is important that it has a fast and efficient way to engage with key technical roles to kick-start or to support operations in a timely manner. To that extent, the AR will establish regional technical rosters for key technical profiles with the aim to enhance efficiency in the recruitment process and quickly get experts on board.
This position is located in the Asian Region, Engineering Section in Country Offices. They are responsible for applying standard engineering practices and precedents in the design, construction, maintenance, repair and liquidation of structures, facilities and systems required to support, develop and oversee the UNOPS portfolio of programs and projects in Country Offices and to ensure that synergies between programs and projects are effectively developed UNOPS projects. Project could include post-disaster recovery, peace-building, health, and food security. UNOPS is expanding its infrastructure and procurement services in Country offices.
The Country Office portfolio currently includes fund management of the multi-donor Access to Health Fund, the Livelihoods and Food Security Trust Fund (LIFT), and the NEXUS Response Mechanism. In addition, UNOPS is the Principal Recipient of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria grants (PR-GFATM). It has also been appointed as the Trustee and Contract Manager of the Joint Peace Fund (JPF).
Besides fund management, Country Offices are also engaged with the implementation of physical infrastructure projects, including design, construction, and rehabilitation of health-related (clinics and hospital) and the procurement of medical equipment and supplies.
In order to support its response to the COVID-19 situation and its capacity to implement health related projects/programs, UNOPS is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Biomedical Engineer to be part of its roster of retainers.
The Senior Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for the management of all the tasks associated with the need assessment, evaluation, installations, training, commissioning and testing of the medical equipment, furniture and appliances that are to be purchased by the Country Office as health-related projects/programs.
