Architect - Retainer

Background Information – Kenya Multi Country Office (KEMC)

The Architect in collaboration with the team members and the project stakeholders will perform the following tasks: 

• Work with stakeholders to assemble relevant information for review and design purposes;

• Review design documents and policies produced by public sector and agency bodies;

• Prepare concept design proposals for new projects. 

• Develop design documentation for infrastructure projects.

• Revise documentation for infrastructure projects as required.

• Timely production of conceptual and detailed architectural documentation for vertical structures in accordance with the UNOPS Design Planning Manual and/or applicable engineering code.

• Assist in carrying out site assessments as need arises and prepare subsequent reports.

• Attend coordination meetings if and when required.

• Coordinate professionals from other disciplines, and incorporate documentation produced for the purposes of delivering coherent technical packages of information.

• Translate technical documents between English and Portuguese, and act as translator in technical meetings when required.  

• Complete architectural drawings to a high standard from concept stage to implementation stage.

• Any other duties as directed by UNOPS project lead.

• University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree)  in Architecture from a recognized University is required;
• Advanced Degree (master's degree) in Architecture from a recognized University is desirable but not required.

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in architectural design is required;

• Experience and knowledge of the institutional framework and construction legislation in Mozambique is an asset;

• Experience in use of software such as AutoCAD/ArchiCAD or REVIT is desired;

• Experience in google suit applications will be an asset.

• Full knowledge of English language is required. 
• Full knowledge of Portuguese language is required.
