Background Information – Project Specific
The current crisis in Lebanon, coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic and the Beirut Port Explosion in August 2020, have impacted the health sector both in terms of the health system and patients themselves. The shortage of funding, health workers, medical supplies and equipment, as well as the aging infrastructure and equipment have created a gap between the increased demand for health service and the capacity of the existing national health system to absorb the current demand.
To contribute to the above, UNOPS, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) in Lebanon and international donors, executes a number of projects to support the health sector through provision of biomedical equipment and supplies as well as installation of renewable Solar PV energy Systems and Energy saving lighting equipment. UNOPS continues to support the health care sector in Lebanon in alignment with the Lebanon National Health Strategy- Vision 2030 launched by the Ministry of Public Health.
In this context, UNOPS is seeking to recruit a Biomedical Engineer to conduct site visits and inspections all over Lebanon to contribute to the wider humanitarian and development efforts.
