Graphic Design Analyst

Switzerland

UNOPS in Switzerland is based in Geneva and has excellent links with the international community. Local and international partners call upon the UNOPS Switzerland office for expertise in fund management, project management, procurement of goods and services, and human resources administration to ensure successful delivery of their projects. Focus areas include health, water, and sanitation.

1. General Background

(Brief description of the national, sector-specific or other relevant context in which the individual contractor will operate)

The incumbent will be based in the Secretariat of the Stop TB Partnership, a collective force of more than 1300 partners dedicated to the fight against Tuberculosis (TB) – a disease that is curable but still kills three people every minute. The Partnership is recognized as a unique international body with the power to align actors all over the world in the fight against TB. The Stop TB Partnership Secretariat is housed by the United Nations Office for Project Services in Geneva, Switzerland.

Founded in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership's mission is to serve every person who is vulnerable to TB and ensure that high-quality treatment is available to all who need it. Our partners include international and technical organizations, government programmes, research and funding agencies, foundations, NGOs, civil society and community groups and the private sector.

The Communications Team provides writing, editing and strategic communications services to teams across the Secretariat to support delivery of the Operational Strategy. The team works coordinate global advocacy efforts and put TB on the agenda of political decision makers and key stakeholders. 

2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment

Graphic Design

1. Support the implementation and maintenance of layout of reports and publications, the development of new graphic solutions and design of innovative interactive products.
2. Design new and/or update products and publications such as reports, brochures and graphics information and other materials in InDesign, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Illustrator and Word.
3. Ensure adherence to graphic guidelines.
4. Develop, improve and edit designs for maps, photos, graphics, figures and other graphic elements.
5. Maintain templates (Word, PowerPoint etc.) and give technical support for their use; and layout and design presentations including creating animations in PowerPoint and/or Flash for illustrative purposes such as animation of maps and more advanced solutions.
6. Deliver creative graphic and technical solutions for new media; and
7. Liaise with printers and other publishing firms for printing of materials.

Contribute to the Stop TB Partnership’s website and social media platforms

1. Lead on the development and design of the revamped Stop TB Partnership website
2. Assist the Communications Team in the design of web banners for its other social medial channels: Twitter, FlickR, Instagram, Vimeo the monthly newsletters.

Develop and maintain photo library and audio visual content

1. Edit and organize the Stop TB Partnership’s images and video footage for use on websites, social media channels, presentations, etc.

Support the Stop TB Partnership as a bilingual organization

1. Work with the Communications team and translation firm to proof and review French language communications products.

Perform other related duties as required.

3. Monitoring and Progress Controls

Working Arrangements: The incumbent will be based in the Stop TB Partnership’s offices in Geneva, Switzerland for the duration of the contract.

Impact of Results: The key results have an impact on the overall efficiency and effectiveness of financial management and other support of the Stop TB Partnership’s portfolio.

Consequence of Errors: Errors in programme formulation/project formulation or monitoring cause project delays or less project success. 

Technical Skills:

1. Expertise in the following: MS Office, Video/Audio Production, Adobe Creative Suite software, MailChimp, Survey Monkey
2. Basic understanding of web development (HTML, Java Script etc) technologies required. 

Master's degree in graphic design, fine arts, marketing and advertising, media and communications or related area. A Batchelor's degree in these fields with an additional experience of 2 years may be accepted in lieu of the Master's degree.  

A minimum of 3 years’ progressively responsible experience in organizations, corporate or agency communications and graphic design.

Experience of working in a creative marketing or advertising company would be an added advantage.

English fluency is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
