The GEF Small Grants Programme, implemented
by the United Nations Development Programme in New York seeks to enlist a
full-time intern to support with social media outreach. The intern will assist
the Communications and KM Specialist in drafting messages for Facebook and
Twitter engaging SGP’s social media audience, and monitoring all social media
accounts for SGP. The intern will also research and draft stories to be featured
in the GEF and SGP websites.
Duties
and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Communications
Specialist, the intern will specifically be responsible for the following:
Social Media content:
•
Drafting messages for SGP’s Facebook and Twitter channel

•
Monitor the SGP global and local websites and social media channels for
new content; draft and schedule posts for Twitter and Facebook in English (and
Spanish and/or French, if possible).
•
Based on the media clippings, select the most interesting content,
prepare draft tweets for approval, schedule them and measure the activity
generated.
•
Research additional content on SGP’s projects for case studies and
articles.
•
Research interesting posts from partners as future content.
•
Actively expand the network of followers in both channels
Monitor social media accounts:
•
Monitor mentions for retweeting.
•
Monitor the social media accounts for questions
•
Monitor the social media accounts for negative comments, and flag them
to the Communications and KM Specialist .
•
Support live tweeting from events.
•
Support preparations for social media outreach and implementation for
relevant International Days related to Sustainable Development.
•
Other tasks as requested by the Communications Specialist.
