IT Server Hardware and Virtualization Assistant

• Install, configure, operate and maintain HP and Cisco server hardware, firmware and management software.
• Install, configure, operate, administer and provide support for VMWare server virtualization platforms and Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
• Implement backups of servers following standard backup procedures

Education:

High school diploma. Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or relevant certification is a plus and may replace for some of the minimum required years of experience

Experience:

Minimal 5 year experience is required in installing, configuring and managing server hardware and VMWare virtualized environments and Windows and Linux Operating Systems in large and complex environments.

Desirable:

·         Experience in managing and monitoring HP rack and blade systems, Cisco UCS-E blades.

·         Experience with Symantec NetBackup and EMC DataDomain products.

·         Experience with a project management methodology such as PMP, PRINCE2, etc.

·         Knowledge of the ITIL framework.

·         Experience in customer services and the ability to provide a professional interface with the user community.

·         Good interpersonal skills.

·         Attention to detail. Proven ability to work under pressure.

·         Ability to work outside normal working hours if required

·         Industry recognized certifications are an asset.

Language:

Fluency in written and oral English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

For example, within the United Nations Development Programme, the Cluster works with the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support and the Office of South-South Cooperation.

The cluster also supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as a broadening community of other New York-based United Nations organizations in the delivery of project management and implementation services
