Alliance, which is hosted by UNOPS, is a global partnership promoting the role of
cities in poverty reduction and sustainable development. Managed by a
Secretariat based in Brussels, it is a unique partnership with a diverse
membership which has come together to strengthen both impacts and coherence in
urban development. Cities Alliance is a global leader with a strong track
record in grant-making, that supports strategic city planning, slum upgrading
strategies and national policies designed to make cities more inclusive and
sustainable. Through UNOPS, the Cities Alliance operates a Multi-Donor Fund
supported by an efficient, flexible grant-making mechanism with global reach.

With
financial support from the Omidyar Network, the Cities Alliance will launch a
Call for Proposals to award small grants for innovators and community
organisations at local level working on innovative ways to improve secure land
tenure and housing rights in African cities. The initiative will address the
nexus between the issue of land tenure, Africa’s growing young population, and
its capacity to innovate and deploy modern technologies. It will also measure
and improve the Cities Alliance and UNOPS’ ability to make small grants to new,
local and non-traditional partners in order to achieve significant development
impacts.
Cities Alliance is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic
Programme Analyst to manage the implementation of the call. Under the
guidance and supervision of Team Leaders, the Programme Analyst will be
responsible for all aspects in the grant appraisal, award, monitoring and
management of grantees. The Programme Analyst will contribute to effective and
efficient team work and team results that are delivered on time, within budget
and to high quality standards.
