Africa Region LCPC Secretary

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Africa Regional Office supports 6 sub-regional hubs across the Africa Region. The Africa Regional Office helps ensure that projects are executed to the highest standards, providing a shared knowledge base, and ensuring that best practices and lessons learned are disseminated between projects across the entire region.

• Arrange and coordinate Committee meetings;
• Establish the Committee agenda in cooperation with the Chair;
• Review submissions prior to Committee meetings, and if necessary request clarifications, and/or additional information from submitting officers;
• Ensure timely and efficient distribution of submissions and relevant documentation to the participating Committee members;
• Attend Committee meetings and note the panel’s discussions;
• During and after each meeting, communicate any queries from the Committee to submitting officers and follow up as required by telephone and e mail;
• Prepare and distribute a draft of the official minutes (in English) and recommendations of meetings and obtain clearance of this document by all participating Committee members;
• Follow up clearance by all participating members; promptly forward these to the Chair for his/her actions;
• Ensure the maintenance of a permanent record of all Committee minutes/recommendations and submissions reviewed by the Committee for a minimum of five years;
• Prepare Committee-related correspondence;
• Compile statistics on submissions and prepare reports as requested;
• Maintain the AFR LCPC intranet page;
• Share LCPC lessons learnt as necessary with AFR Regional Office team and relevant Units;
• Ensure adequate liaison with HR, Procurement and HQCPC;
• Perform other related duties as required.
  
  

• Secondary education in combination with 7 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in operations and/or compliance, is required;or
• Bachelor's degree preferably in Law, Business or Public Administration, Project Management, Procurement, Economics, International Development, Social Studies, or related field in combination with 3 years of relevant professional experience, is required; or
• Master’s degree preferably in Law, Business or Public Administration, Project Management, Procurement, Economics, International Development, Social Studies or related field in combination with 1 year of relevant professional experience is required
  

• Experience with the UN/UNOPS is desirable
• Knowledge of UN/UNOPS rules and procedures with regard to procurement of goods, services, and works is desirable
• Knowledge of UNOPS rules and procedures with regard to the engaging of Individual Contractors (ICAs) is desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
  
  

Language:

• Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required
• Fluency in French is an asset.
