Background information - Job specific

This Vacancy Announcement is being published by UNOPS - ECR Geneva on behalf of the SEforALL Initiative

Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) is a Non-Profit International Organization operating a world-wide multi-stakeholder platform focused on the delivery of its objectives which are reflected in Sustainable Development Goal 7 and made more urgent by the Paris Agreement on climate change.  Originally an initiative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, SEforALL was widely acknowledged for its achievement in raising global awareness of the world's sustainable energy challenges, ensuring they were included in the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.  The initiative was re-structured in 2016 and now operates as a Non-Profit International Organization. It has a Relationship Agreement with the United Nations and the CEO of SEforALL is also the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sustainable Energy for All (SRSG). The Relationship Agreement includes a coordination mechanism between SEforALL and the UN and an advisory committee to the Secretary General that is co-chaired by the President of the World Bank and supported by the SRSG and SEforALL.  This unique relationship is aimed to ensuring coordination and collaboration across the UN system and between the UN and the myriad actors across member states, the private sector and civil society focused on achieving SDG7.  SEforALL works out of it headquarters in Vienna, Austria and an office hosted by the UN Foundation's Washington DC office while building, coordinating, and driving partnerships both globally and in specific high-impact countries
As a global platform, Sustainable Energy for All empowers leaders to broker partnerships and unlock finance to achieve universal access to sustainable energy, as a contribution to a cleaner, just and prosperous world for all.  We marshal evidence, benchmark progress, amplify the voices of our partners and tell stories of success and connect stakeholders.  While the international community has set goals for mid-century and 2030 we have to support action that gets us on the right track now. The cost of inaction is higher than action.  To help move progress that can be measured by 2020, 2024 etc., we have developed a series of heat-maps to help prioritize and show where as a community we can have the biggest positive impact in the shortest amount of time. We are helping leaders in government, business and civil society to make the right choices on energy policy and action, supporting the exchange of ideas, data, evidence and best practice.  We exist to help our partners go further, faster.
