Communications and Outreach Analyst

FieldSight is a technological platform for remote monitoring, supervision, and quality assurance on humanitarian, development, and construction projects. By connecting semi-skilled and project personnel working in the field with skilled and management personnel based in regional or central offices, FieldSight ensures that progress and quality can be better monitored, tracked, and captured throughout construction and project implementation. The concept attempts to address many of the challenges that project managers and implementing organizations face when operating in the remote and resource-constrained environments that characterize humanitarian and development work—including limited accessibility to sites, strained technical capacity, and insufficient budgets—while also taking advantage of recent developments such as improvements and price reductions for mobile technology and the increasing reach of mobile networks.

FieldSight consists of a web-based application and an Android-based mobile application connected via a central server. The web application allows users to set-up and configure projects as well as to review data that is submitted by field users. The mobile application is used to collect and submit data from field sites. Tools for assessing submissions, sharing project plans and guidance materials, and communicating across multiple channels further enhance the connection between office and site, facilitating coaching, collaboration, and capacity building.

FieldSight is a people-based technological platform. Effective use of the system requires integrating it with project quality assurance content and within an effective supervision program, consisting of:

Quality Assurance Content: The assessments, surveys, forms, and guidance materials that are basis of quality assurance and supervision processes, and

Supervision Personnel: The multiple layers of staff, project structure, logistical support, and other program elements that enable data collection and supervision at all scales of a project.

The project is built to scale and works across projects ranging in size from a small handful to hundreds of sites. Dashboards embedded in the system provide aggregate data across sites, projects, and organizations that allow project managers and staff to more effectively understand progress, integrate activities, and analyze data.

Purpose and Scope of Assignment

The Communications and Outreach Analyst will work under the guidance and supervision of the Product Manager and report to the same. S/He shall assist the FieldSight communications team and broader UNOPS with the creation of user driven communication processes and strategies, including preparing templates and guidance documents for materials. It will focus on deepening existing relationships and supporting the onboarding process of new clients. It will also include reviewing and editing communication materials and offering support to communication colleagues as needed.

Based in the Nepal Operational Hub, this position will look to boost the profile of FieldSight across the organization by working closely with and supporting UNOPS projects across the South Asia Region.

➢       Deepen relationships with clients by strategizing user driven outreach activities 

✓       Contribute to effective building of relationships by identifying and executing opportunities to deepen relationships with clients

✓       Engage with clients and team to understand their needs and current communication methods

✓       Review the client onboarding and training process and work with Project team to improve the support offered

✓       Identify ways to improve the user experience by developing communication processes to be used across the project team

✓       Contribute to the development of guidance documents and best practice templates to strategise communications and relationship building with clients

✓       Work with the Project team to constantly improve and enhance the internal and external communication and relationship building approaches

✓       Support the Project Manager and team in managing clients, users and stakeholder

➢       Provide strategic support to Communications and Relationship building

✓       Assist an effective outreach effort by providing support for communication materials produced, in relation to user needs

✓       Support the development of creative communication strategies, key guidance documents and templates

✓       Coordinate the implementation of project communications strategies and ensure that content and communications methods are up to date, correct and consistent

✓       Support communications colleagues develop and edit communications materials as required

✓       Prepare periodic reports regarding progress toward and barriers to the achievement of communication strategies and plans

✓       Liaise with broader UNOPS and the development/humanitarian sector to develop a network and identify opportunities to support them

➢          Support broader UNOPS projects and the Nepal Operations Hub (NPOH)  

✓       Oversee UNOPS communications materials produced by communications team on project, country and NPOH level

✓       Support the communications intern and broader team develop, edit and write communications materials across all projects as required

✓       Contribute to developping internal and external communication strategies for the NPOH adapted to each country

✓       Assist by developing materials, concepts, approaches and any other activities required for effective communication of the projects

✓       Participate at UNOPS coordination meetings and liaise with UNOPS offices across the South Asia region and beyond

✓       Assist the NPOH project managers and PMO to manage the lessons learning and evidence base of communications and the projects

●       Develop effective concepts and approaches to deepen client relationships

●       Develop effective communication and outreach frameworks for UNOPS projects

●       Prepare timely strategies and materials for the projects

●       Support communication colleagues produce materials

a)      Education

●        Bachelor’s or equivalent in communications, journalism, media relations or relevant discipline is required;

●        Certification in communications, outreach and community engagement along with reporting desirable

b)      Work Experience

●       A minimum of two years of relevant experience in communication, outreach and community engagement and reporting is required;

●       Experience in the usage of computers and office software package (MS Office is required)

C) Language

●        Fluency in written and oral English is required
