Business Analyst and Lotus Notes Developer

The Service for Geospatial Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) within the United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) is the operational hub for the support and delivery of ICT services and solutions to satisfy the requirements of the Departments of Peace Operations and Operational Support (DPO/DOS). DOS has implemented a range of systems to address the principal requirements of peace operations and, increasingly, of a broader range of Secretariat and non-Secretariat entities and to support and enhance the processes DOS undertakes. Within SGITT, the Administration and Programme Management Unit (APMU) provides cross-cutting support to the Service area, including contract and administrative management; programme management; ICT resource management; budget planning, implementation and oversight. 

1. Support Lotus Notes (LN) Web-enabled applications 

• Maintains, upgrades or enhances the existing enterprise systems;
• Troubleshoots and provides continuing user support, to include resolving difficult problems, advising on the use of new techniques, monitoring transactions to measure performance and continued effectiveness of assigned systems;
• Develops detailed system and functional specifications and user documentation for major systems.

2. Develop and implement Lotus Notes ( LN) Web-enabled applications

• Provides specialized advice to users, analyzing user requirements and translating these into new applications; determines application systems integration and linkage issues;
• Develops and maintains computer programs that require integration of many interrelated systems and program elements; ensures appropriate data security and access controls considering both local and wide area issues;
• Organizes and performs unit and integrated testing, designing and utilizing test bases, assists users in acceptance testing;
• Develops training materials, operating and user manuals; trains staff in assigned systems.

3. Develop and implement non-LN applications

• Coordinates, plans, designs, configures and migrates legacy Lotus Notes (LN)
  databases to O365 SharePoint Online and other Web-based technology platforms;
• Manages projects involving feasibility studies, systems analysis, design and development of new moderately complex systems;
• Participates as a member of a development team with responsibility for major components of some complex systems.

4. Provide on-going support to the global Application Portfolio

• Supports Application Portfolio tools and perform required system upgrades;
• Researches, analyzes and evaluates new technologies and makes recommendations for their deployment;
• Participates in writing reports and papers.

• Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, software engineering, mathematics or related field.  
• A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two (2) years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Required:

• Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in an international/ multicultural organization in the field of ICT project, ICT administration or other related fields, in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of Web-based enterprise system solutions is required
• Experience with the following technical platforms and Web development tools is required: Domino/Lotus Notes, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, JSON, jQuery, 

Desirable:

• Experience with .NET development framework and MS SQL Server, SharePoint Online, Bootstrap and Google APIs

• English and French are the working languages of the UN. For this job opening, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required;
• Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable

• Project Management PRINCE2 (Foundation/Practitioner) and/or PMP frameworks is desirable
