The Portfolio Management Specialist is a critical position within the Peace and Security Cluster (PSC) New York-based hub. The position works closely with the HPU. It is a central function which brings various elements together (financial management, procurement and contract management, human resources, asset management etc.) to coordinate, plan and manage projects.
The Portfolio Management Specialist supports the HPU in the day-to-day operations of the project(s) and provides services to the different donors, partners and beneficiaries. The main responsibility of a Portfolio Management Specialist is to ensure, in coordination with the HPU, that the project outputs are delivered within the specified project tolerances of time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits. He/she is expected to meet the organization’s performance and delivery goals.
The Portfolio Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring the Implementation Plan is fit-for-purpose, using the Legal Agreement and having a thorough understanding of the terms, conditions, and the respective roles and responsibilities of the partners/stakeholders, to ensure the project(s) outputs are capable of meeting the business cases for both UNOPS and the partner(s).
