UNOPS Hub in Amman
The UNOPS Hub in Amman implements projects in Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen, in partnership with bilateral donors, national governments, and other UN agencies. With an established presence across the region, the office runs operations including large-scale procurement, project development, and technical management, and provides financial, human resources, and infrastructure-related services. The functional objective of UNOPS Hub in Amman is to deliver its projects in an efficient and effective manner and in line with the principles, rules and regulations of UNOPS, in order to support the response to the current needs and national priorities in the region.
The incumbent is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and that of UNOPS.

General Background of Projects
UNOPS is undertaking a series of projects in Yemen, in which gender and social inclusion mainstreaming as well as prevention of GBV are important elements, among them the Strengthening Resilience through Enhancing Health Service Facilities in Yemen project.
The overall objective of the Strengthening Resilience through Enhancing Health Service Facilities in Yemen project is to support local service providers and local communities in increasing access to primary and secondary health services facilities (general hospitals, local health centers, and therapeutic feeding centers) for the most vulnerable population through restoring the physical infrastructure of health facilities (maintenance works and minor repairs) in target areas.
The Gender Equality Officer will report directly to the Project Manager while referring to the Amman Operational Hub Gender Specialist based in Jordan for technical guidance on gender and social inclusion mainstreaming and GBV prevention. The Gender Equality Officer will liaise regularly with local communities across Yemen. The incumbent will support the implementation of gender and social inclusion mainstreaming and GBV initiatives in the Strengthening Resilience of Health Service Facilities project. The position requires an experienced person with gender and social inclusion mainstreaming and GBV knowledge and ability, aptitude to provide basic training on gender equality, social inclusion and GBV, as well as data collection and analysis skills.
