General Background
UNOPS supports the successful implementation of its partners’ peacebuilding, humanitarian and development projects around the world. Our mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Based in Geneva, the Global Portfolio Group (GPO) supports UNOPS offices throughout the region through: management, financial and programmatic oversight of global and country-specific portfolios, clusters and operations centres, including hosting services; fund and management advisory services; project implementation; procuring goods and services; and managing human resources.
GPO Geneva ensures that projects are executed to the highest standards, providing a shared knowledge base and ensuring that best practices and lessons learned are disseminated between business units and projects across the entire region.
The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement
The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement is a country-led and country-driven network of member stakeholders working to support 67 SUN Countries and 4 Indian States to develop and achieve their nutrition targets. It is founded on a multistakeholder and multisectoral approach that harnesses the broad capacities of key players working to bring healthy nutrition to everyone, everywhere. It is facilitated by the SUN Movement Secretariat and four SUN Networks – the SUN Civil Society Network, SUN Business Network, SUN Donor Network and UN Nutrition – representing +4,000 organizations, +1,400 businesses, 16 UN agencies, and leading public and private sector donors.
The SUN Movement Secretariat is hosted by UNOPS and is composed of personnel based in Geneva and in regional hubs. The SUN Movement is headed by the SUN Movement Coordinator at the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General who is based in Geneva. The Secretariat is led by a Director supported by senior managers.
