Provide inputs in the formulation of the UNOPS Enterprise-wide Reporting Strategy through:
Participation in defining and communicating a strategic approach to reporting needs, especially merging financial information with results and other non-financial information;
Providing feedback from business owners with regard to business needs and gaps;
Promoting a holistic view of UNOPS enterprise information and linkages between information from different enterprise systems in use.
Conduct thorough Requirements Gathering exercises while ensuring the following:
Anchoring of product ownership with relevant product and business owners;
Structuring product design by understanding and focusing on the core business need being expressed by business owners;
Discovering hidden requirements through a thorough understanding of the business needs and analysis of the specific processes as well as associated processes;
Assisting business owner’s assessment of business value from proposed product(s);
Developing preliminary cost-estimates for different solution options in view of current and potential technical capabilities;
Managing business and product owner relationships and enable their understanding and appreciation of technical possibilities and constraints;
Work closely with the UNOPS Corporate Performance and Management Group in harmonizing and integrating organizational objectives arising from cross-practice requirements.
Actively engage in providing Creative Inputs for the development of new tools, enhancement to existing tools or new ways of using / integrating tools while focusing on the following:
Leveraging current or upcoming ICT infrastructure and other ICT systems and tools to design compelling new concepts that provide substantial value to the business;
Solving articulated or unarticulated problems in innovative ways; In conjunction with ICT Services, analyze trends in user experiences in order to prioritize fixes and enhancements to ICT Products ensuring their continual improvement.
Write detailed Functional Specifications while focusing on the following:
Facilitating business owner’s shaping of Product Vision, Business Case and pre-product backlog and assess technical aspects in view of UNOPS ICT Strategy, particularly opportunities for leveraging current and future Atlas (PeopleSoft) capabilities;
Facilitating technical interpretation of the voice of the customer enabling seamless conversion to product backlogs;
Ensuring that the specifications accurately represent the requirements and especially the core business need expressed by the business owners;
Ensuring that the specifications contain sufficient technical details to drive development work smoothly.
Coordinate and provide inputs for Development Work based on functional specifications ensuring the following:
Engagement of the Business Product Owner in the development process and particularly in the articulation of priorities for development of specific features;
Coordination with the Business Product Owner to ensure that sufficient validation and verification of the information produced by the tools are undertaken and documented;
Engagement with the Business Product Owner to ensure a successful transition of the product from development to implementation and user uptake.
Assistance to UNOPS Management Support Practices and Implementation Support Practices in the preparation and submission of relevant ICT Advisory Board Submissions while promoting the following:
Product and business owners understanding and appreciation of the overall ICT Strategy and governance model;
Product and business owners understanding and appreciation of ICT development approaches such as Scrum;
Communication to the ICT Advisory Board and ensuring that relevant resources are available for continual improvement of ICT products.
