Peace and Security Cluster

The UNOPS Peace and Security Cluster (PSC) is a principal service provider in the field of mine action with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), UNDP, UNICEF, Governments of mine-affected countries and other mine action partners. The Head of Cluster is responsible to administer, provide support and oversight of the day-to-day management of the Project Field offices, both according to the client requirements and in line with UNOPS rules and regulations. It is headed by the Head of Cluster who has the overall authority and accountability for the performance of the Peace and Security Cluster on behalf of its clients.

UNMAS is a substantive component of UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). It supports the mission mandate, including reducing the danger from landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), along with information sharing, marking and destruction of landmines and UXO.

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer, the Programme Management Support Officer will perform the following responsibilities:

• Support the programme manager (PM) and Programme Officer (PO) in drafting work plans, project proposals, reports, input to the mine action portfolio, and ad-hoc reports and material as needed;
• Provide support to the development, implementation and amendment of the programme financial resources;
• Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs e.g. prepare periodic substantive reports for implementing partners against donor contributions, projects and activities; 
• Support the organisation of events and preparation of communications products, including, but not limited to: Official letters, speeches, invitations, briefing notes and reports;
• Liaise with UN partner agencies and donors in mine action in obtaining up to date information on potential funding and projects; 
• Provide programme information to partner agencies, non-governmental organizations and contractors and UN agencies; 
• Support routine and effective capacity building activities conducted to build a long-term and sustainable capacity of personnel;
• Maintain documentation of decisions and actions taken on programme issues, ensure accurate translations of formal documentations and correspondence; 
• Actively engage in public information initiatives and maintain close working relationships with UN partner agencies on public information activities; 

Master Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Public Administration or related field  with a minimum of one (1) of relevant experience; or

Bachelor degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Public Administration or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience is required.

Relevant experience is defined as experience in Business Administration, Programme, Project Management or Support.

Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point etc.) is required.
