UNOPS hosts the Stop Tuberculosis Partnership Secretariat (STBP) as of 1 January 2015, in Geneva, Switzerland. The vision of the Stop TB Partnership is to realize the goal of elimination of Tuberculosis (TB) as a public health problem and, ultimately, to obtain a world free of TB by ensuring that every TB patient has access to effective diagnosis, treatment and cure; stopping transmission of TB; reducing the inequitable social and economic toll of TB; and developing and implementing new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic tools and strategies. The Stop TB Partnership is uniquely positioned to support the development and further implementation by partners of the current and future Global Plan, acting as a coordinator and catalyst for the range of partners engaged in the fight against TB.

Founded in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership is a United Nations (UN) hosted organization that takes bold and smart risks to serve and amplify the voices of the people, communities, stakeholders, and partners from countries affected by TB. 

The Stop TB Partnership is guided by three strategic goals to: 

1. Advocate, catalyze, and facilitate sustained coordination and collaboration among partners; 

2. Support the development, replication, and scale-up of innovative approaches and tools; and 

3. Facilitate global, equitable access to TB diagnostics and medicines. 

The organization’s comprehensive range of strategic and technical expertise and our willingness to push boundaries are crucial factors in reaching the targets agreed upon by Heads of States and the TB community-at-large to end TB by 2030.

The Stop TB Partnership’s External Affairs & Strategic Initiatives (EASI) Team supports the organization primarily by:

1. Catalyzing and securing sustainable financing from the public and private sector for the Secretariat and country programes;

2. Engaging with both the public and private sector to elevate and enhance the Secretariat and the organization’s mandate on global agendas; and

3. Conceptualizing, designing, rolling-out, and implementing business-minded approaches and projects to address systematic barriers in the TB and global health space. 

The intern will work on the SIIF team to support the implementation of critical activities related to a4i.

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of  the Head of EASI, the intern will perform the following tasks as part of her or his internship learning experience: 

• As an internship project: Lead the landscape analysis of the next generational health technologies for communicable and non-communicable diseases.

• As part of the team and “learning by doing”: Support the development of concept notes, pitch decks, project work plans and budgets, policy documents, grant proposals, operating guidelines, and other materials.

• In support to the head of the team: Carry out research assignments and assisting in the production of agreed outputs including articles, policy reports, and other materials.

• As part of the team and more into operations: Provide various project administration and coordination support to the Team Leader and Strategic Initiatives Specialist, as needed.

Training components and learning elements

Offers experience working within the global health/international organization space, engagement between the public and private sector, and innovative financing sector.

The supervisor will allocate dedicated time in order to improve the intern’s understanding of the functioning of Stop TB Partnership and the UN development agency world in general.

Participation in missions or training courses

Participation in meetings with senior level decision-makers and policy-makers.

• Please note, interns based in Switzerland, will have to declare themselves to the tax and social security authorities of the country. Additionally, they will have to purchase a Swiss Based Health insurance to cover the period they are on internship. UNOPS will reimburse 120 USD a month for the payment of the insurance - upon show of proof of valid policy.
