UNOPS Amman Multi Country Office (AMMMCO) is recruiting for this position: Country Manager based in Sana'a, Yemen.

Yemen Country Context
UNOPS has been operating in Yemen since 2014, with a focus on response to the humanitarian crisis, as well as contributing to the humanitarian-development nexus with integrated, innovative, and cost-effective measures and solutions.
UNOPS is currently implementing projects across key sectors, including health, WASH, transport, solid waste management, and education across Yemen.
UNOPS engagements in Yemen have expanded significantly in volume and programme area since 2017 and have included a broad range of signature programmes, including the Integrated Urban Service Emergency projects; Emergency Human Capital Project (WASH Component); Emergency Electricity Access Project; Enhancing access and resilience of health services project (Phase I, II, & III); Provision of mobile clinics for health facilities; Rehabilitation of therapeutic feeding centers (TFCs); Support for peace negotiations by supporting the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY). Moreover, UNOPS, on behalf of the UN Member States and OCHA, has been operationalizing the UN Verification and Inspection Mechanism for Yemen (UNVIM), as well as providing a range of human resource transactional services and operational support to UNESCO, WHO, UNFPA and UNHCR.
UNOPS operations in Yemen have also been designed to address challenges linked to climate change, such as flooding, biodiversity loss, CO2 emissions by implementing:

Small to large scale solar PV solutions;

Interventions based on climate-change resilient designs;

Flash water drainage channels;

Green spaces (parks) to support local biodiversity;

Capacity building activities to enhance the capacity of local implementing partners.
The projects are being implemented directly by UNOPS, as well as project cooperation agreements between UNOPS and local implementing partners (LIP), including the Public Works Project, the Urban Water Project Implementation Unit, and the Road Maintenance Fund Implementation Unit, while all civil works are undertaken by private sector contractors, thus building the capacity of the LIP and the private sector contractors and suppliers and supporting the revitalization of the local economy. The main partners in Yemen are The World Bank, KfW, Japan and UNESCO
The Project Office operates as an integral part of the Multi Country Office management structure.
