Partnerships Analyst - Intern

CPG Communications team develops communications strategies, policies, plans and channels based on communications needs and expectations; maintains and strengthens UNOPS corporate identity through official reporting to the Executive Board and other external communications, enabling accountability and transparency; communicates a clear direction and strategic focus, ensuring that the people of UNOPS understand and can demonstrate their contribution to its success; and facilitates and encourages the sharing of information, knowledge and best practices, achieving dialogue throughout the organization.

Under the overall guidance of the Team Lead the Partnerships Analyst Intern will be responsible for:

1. Managing an intranet and excel based event calendar and ensure its timely dissemination to relevant actors;  
2. Supporting content development, maintenance and periodic updating of UNOPS intranet event page information in coordination with the internal communications focal point;
3. Supporting event management and coordination of working groups charged with developing corporate positions for key events;
4. Supporting the organization of internal and external meetings and preparing meeting summaries;
5. Supporting logistical and administrative arrangements for UNOPS participation in events;  
6. Contributing to internal reports on positioning strategies;
7. Supporting the preparation of briefing materials for UNOPS senior management’s external engagements;
8. Conducting ad hoc research in preparation of major events relevant for UNOPS; and
9. Performing other related duties as required.

In performing her/his responsibilities, s/he will work closely with the Representation and Outreach Team Lead, other personnel and interns in the Communications and Partnerships Group, as well as project/business development specialists, staff and interns in UNOPS offices throughout the world.

• Understand, identify, prepare and maintain databases and internal documents concerning external events
• Consistently delivers comprehensive and fact-based strategic engagement strategies aligned with fluid/dynamic donor landscape
• Offers new and/or different feasible solutions to problems/client needs
• Displays openness and flexibility in daily work
• Manages time and resources to the optimum so that the input to output ratio is high
• Completes own assignment and monitors self-progress thereby making contribution to team goals. Is dependable in times of crisis

• Consistently meets timelines for delivery with internal/external clients

• Candidate must be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed (minimum 3 years prior to applying), a Bachelor/Master’s/Ph.D. Degree in a relevant area, preferably in communications, Public Policy, International Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Political Science, or International Relations. 

• Fluency in written and spoken English is required; working knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset.

• The candidate should also have extensive knowledge of, and experience with, Microsoft Office programs, particularly with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Knowledge of SharePoint and database software, an asset.

• The ideal candidate would have a combination of private and international public sector experience, including in the following areas:

  • Strategic planning and development
  • Event management
  • Data analysis
  • Website and intranet experience
  • Client/donor research
  • Business acquisition/development
