LAN Assistant

• Support and monitoring of LAN equipment and systems deployed by the UN in the field and HQ. Install, configure, maintain and support equipment and systems providing ICT services.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and infrastructure problems. Monitor and analyse the performance of ICT services. Provide information on availability of support packs, relevant firmware updates.
• Install, configure and maintain network infrastructure, telephony solutions, wireless communications solutions, video surveillance systems and UPS power systems in accordance with UN standards, requirements of manufactures and local regulations. Install server equipment and services.
• Liaise with clients and counterparts within and outside the UN

Education:

High school diploma. Associate's degree or relevant certification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering  is a plus and may substitute for some of the required minimum years of experience.

Experience:

·         Minimal 5 year experience in installing, configuring and managing LAN equipment and services in large and complex environments is required.

Desirable:

·         Experience in managing and monitoring LAN voice and data infrastructure including TCP/IP networks, VPN, firewalls, switches and network analysis tools.

·         Experience with server deployment, DHCP, DNS and other LAN services.

·         Experience with Windows Server.

·         Experience with a project management methodology such as PMP, PRINCE2, etc.

·         Knowledge of the ITIL framework.

·         Experience in customer services and the ability to provide a professional interface with the user community.

·         Good interpersonal skills.

·         Attention to detail.

·         Proven ability to work under pressure. Ability to work outside normal working hours if required

·         Industry recognized certifications are an asset.

Language:

Fluency in written and oral English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

The cluster also supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as a broadening community of other New York-based United Nations organizations in the delivery of project management and implementation services
