Associate Project Officer (UN HLM on TB)

UNOPS hosts the Stop Tuberculosis Partnership Secretariat (STBP) as of 1 January 2015, in Geneva, Switzerland. The vision of the Stop TB Partnership is to realize the goal of elimination of Tuberculosis (TB) as a public health problem and, ultimately, to obtain a world free of TB by ensuring that every TB patient has access to effective diagnosis, treatment and cure; stopping transmission of TB; reducing the inequitable social and economic toll of TB; and developing and implementing new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic tools and strategies. The Stop Partnership is uniquely positioned to support the development and further implementation by partners of the current and future Global Plan, acting as a coordinator and catalyst for the range of partners engaged in the fight against TB.

Founded in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership's mission is to serve every person who is vulnerable to TB and ensure that high-quality treatment is available to all who need it. Our partners include international and technical organizations, government programmes, research and funding agencies, foundations, NGOs, civil society and community groups and the private sector.

A lack of financial resources, coupled with outdated policies, has hampered the response to the TB epidemic. These obstacles can only be overcome through political commitment.  In response, the Stop TB Partnership led a successful campaign for governments to hold a United Nations High-Level Meeting (HLM) on TB.

The High-Level Meeting is the biggest and best opportunity to raise the political priority of TB. It is the most significant political meeting ever held on TB. The meeting will result in a Political Declaration on TB endorsed by Heads of State that will form the basis for the future TB response.

Under the supervision of Stop TB’s Advocacy Team Leader, the Associate Project Officer is responsible and will have a key role in supporting a successful UN HLM on TB through supporting administrative and process work related to the organization of the HLM on TB. The role will also involve providing support to the Stop TB Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director as well as Advocacy and Communications work in relation to the UN HLM on TB.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide various project administration and coordination support for the Stop TB Partnership’s work related to the UN HLM on TB.
• Organizing calls, agendas, briefings, and take notes for the UN HLM Coordinating Group and the different working tracks established under the Coordinating Group.
• Providing support as needed to the workplan the Coordinating Group and the work tracks, which may include reviewing and drafting documents, conducting research, drafting letters and communications, drafting talking points, and other tasks as required.
• Provide administrative support to organize meetings, missions, trips and events relating to the UN HLM on TB, which may include meetings in Geneva, New York, and other locations as required.
• Support the development of monthly updates summarizing progress towards the UNHLM on TB, specifically summarizing the work of the Coordinating Group and work tracks.
• Support the organization of high-level Missions and trips relating to the UN HLM on TB for the Stop TB Partnership senior staff and Stop TB Partnership Board Leadership. 
• Provide support to edit or draft reports, presentations, op-eds, speeches, speaking points and other documents upon request relating to the UN HLM on TB.
• Draft formal correspondence, including meeting requests and follow up letters to external contacts.
• Process travel requests, visas, TEC and other support as needed relating to Stop TB Partnership engagement in the UN HLM on TB.
• Provide logistical arrangements for meetings as required.
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent), preferably in Business Administration, Development Studies, Management or other related discipline is required.

A First level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in combination with 2 additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
