Partnerships Officer

The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) was established in 1990 and mandated by name in United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/45/181.The WSSCC Secretariat is hosted by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and aims to accelerate the achievement of sustainable sanitation, hygiene and water services for all people, with special attention to the unserved poor, by enhancing collaboration and coordination of all sector stakeholders. • Work closely with the Head of Communications and Advocacy, and the Programme Director, to develop, facilitate and measure WSSCC’s country level work on societal engagement to raise the voices of youth, inter-faith, business and others to influence government and wider society’s commitment to SDG6.2.

• Identify and broker partnerships, coalitions, connections and alliances with and/or between non-traditional WASH infleuncers and partners to further WSSCC’s principles and priorities; and track and monitor their engagement.

• Cultivate and develop new partnership relationships with UN, Civil Society and other potential collaborators involved in WSSCC thematic priorities through direct outreach and targeted events.

• Maintain a stakeholder and partnership mapping exercise, defining and classifying the various types of partnerships taking place with the WSSCC.

• Contribute to the design, planning and monitoring of WSSCC outputs and activities (global, regional and national levels) and contribute to these through the satisfactory completion of work plans.

• Keep abreast of the partnership landscape for SDG6.2 and identif opportunities and threats, seeking to build upon or mitigate their effect.   

• Contribute to activities that promote WSSCC as a collaborative partner, exploring different modalities and approaches, including shared value relationships.

• Draft and finalize partnership modalities in accordance with UNOPS and WSSCC norms and standards; client manage the relationships and evaluate outputs.

• Master degree or equivalent in Business Administration, public health, international relations, communications or related fields.
• A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

• Demonstrated international experience and professional background in sanitation, hyiegine and sustainable development issues.

• Excellent analytical skills - ability to quickly understand and internalize complex partnership topics
• Demonstrated diplomatic skills and excellent interpersonal skills with sensitivity to cultural and political differences.
• Proven background in partnership-building
• Good knowledge and experience of outreach and internal communication tools for a wide of audience.
