Partnerships Intern

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the United Nations, supporting the implementation of peacebuilding, humanitarian and development activities around the world.

Under the direct supervision of the Partnerships Advisor, the Partnerships Assistant/Associate will carry out specific responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct both quantitative and qualitative research on key stakeholders and policies;
• Understand the UN Governing bodies and the relevant modus operandi;
• Provide analytical and logistical support for the Member States Outreach activities;
• Draft talking points, background notes, and meeting summaries;
• Review and synthesize key UN documents, decisions, resolutions and reports;
• Support New York Liaison Office team in other activities, such as assist in planning and organization of events;

• Strong writing and verbal communication skills
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Strong time management and execution skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time effectively and to work under pressure
• Ability to apply discretion in a politically sensitive environment
• Good PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills, any additional software skill is a plus

• Currently enrolled in, or have recently completed (within 36 months) a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area, such as international affairs, public policy, social sciences or business, or relevant majors. 
• Candidates holding a Master’s degrees or above are preferred.

• Very good knowledge of the UN system (main bodies, agencies, funds, and programs) or any prior experiences of working for international development institutions is strongly preferred.  
• Familiarity with UN Gender Equality initiatives and programmes is a plus

• Proficiency in both written and verbal skills in English. 
• Fluency in an additional UN language is an asset.

• A writing sample in English is required.
