This is a Local position which requires a valid residence and/or work permit in Syrian Arab Republic.

The Medical Specialist will be deployed as a member of Explosive Ordnance Assessment (EOA) team. Under direct supervision of Team Leader, the incumbent will have following responsibilities:

• Provide emergency medical aid, stabilizes patients for medical evacuations;
• Coordinate specialist consultations and medical evacuations;
• Maintain up-to-date Medical Evacuation and Casualty Evacuation Plans for the Ordnance Assessment Team;
• Maintain up-to-date list of medical facilities and their capacities to support the EOA Team operational workplan;
• Identify needs and promote medical awareness and preparedness;
• Carry-out radio check when required;
• Ensure vehicles have a full complement of safety and emergency equipment including fire extinguisher, Emergency Trauma Bag (ETB), Personal Protective equipment (PPR) etc.;
• Perform any other relevant task assigned by supervisor or senior management.

a)     Education

• An Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in medicine or public health with 5 years of relevant experience; Or
• A first level University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) in medicine or public health with 7 years of relevant experience; Or
• A Nursing Officer License with specialization in anesthesia, intensive care or pre-hospital trauma care, with 6 years of relevant experience; Or
• A Nursing Officer Diploma with specialization in anesthesia, intensive care or pre-hospital trauma care with 9 years of relevant experience; Or
• A High School Diploma with 11 years relevant experience is required.
  
  

b)     Experience

• Relevant experience is defined as experience in areas of medicine or public health.
• Medical experience with international organization in a developing country is desired.
• Recent (within the last five years) experience of an operational medical deployment is desired.
• Training in ETB, IFAK, Advanced First Aid, or CASEVAC management with internationally recognized paramedic/military medic qualification is desired.
• A valid civilian driver's license is required.
  
  

c)     Language

• Basic knowledge of English (writing, speaking and reading) is required;
• Fluency in Arabic (writing, speaking and reading) is required.
