The Information Management Preparedness and Coordination Training (IMPACT) is OCHA’s flagship training for field information management staff. Since IMPACT was piloted in 2015, more than 200 information management staff from OCHA, cluster agencies and standby partners have completed the blended programme. IMPACT equips information management staff to deliver predictable, credible and consistent information products and services using an innovative training methodology, including small-group technical ‘kiosks’ and a day-long mentored simulation. The content, materials and methodology of IMPACT are reviewed each year to ensure the training stays current with evolving policy and practice, with changes incorporated into the IMPACT training handbook.
With IMPACT entering its sixth year in 2020, the Training Officer will conduct an independent review of the training programme and work with OCHA staff to do a comprehensive update of the training methodology and associated resources. The Training Officer will complete the review ahead of the 2020 IMPACT training, which will take place from 20 to 26 April 2020, be a key member of the facilitation team at the event, and update the handbook following completion of the 2020 training.
The section also runs other training events, including an annual community of practice workshop (COPE), and provides content, resources and facilitators for other OCHA-run training events so they include an information management element that is consistent across the organization and reinforces key messages and learning outcomes. The Training Officer will also review the IM element of several other trainings and incorporate material from the review of IMPACT into these other events.
