Data Analyst (retainer), Multiple positions

The Sanitation and Hygiene Fund (SHF) is a multi-donor fund established in 2021 with the overall aim to effectively address the sanitation, hygiene and menstrual health gap; and raise, catalyse and invest resources to accelerate delivery of sustainable sanitation and hygiene services for people with the highest burden and lowest ability to respond.

Reporting to the Head of Monitoring & Evaluation, the Data Analyst will support M&E tool development, data analysis and visualization in support of the SHF strategy 2021-2025, the SHF investment case and the SHF results dashboard. The Data Analyst will support the development of key performance indicators and targets, and contribute to the development of reporting forms and guidance documents related to the SHF results and M&E frameworks. The Data Analyst will also participate in developing a performance-based disbursement policy and an online financial and results reporting tool for the SHF.

Under the guidance of the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation, conduct research and provide technical input with the development and implementation of systems (indicators, tools, methods, guidelines, etc.) to monitor and evaluate organizational and programme performance around core thematic areas including:

• Review, collate and analyse data relevant to sanitation and hygiene, including interpreting trends, creating data visuals (graphs, maps, infographics, etc.) and contributing to reports and other knowledge products.
• Help Design data management and reporting tools that support monitoring, evaluation, analysis and reporting against key performance indicators and the organizational work plan.
• Provide technical support to internal and external events related to monitoring and evaluation (webinars, meetings, workshops, training) and provide monitoring and data analytical guidance and training to colleagues and partners, if required.
• Conduct regular data reviews, data quality controls and assurance tests on data to ensure data integrity, consistency and accuracy.
• Provide technical assistance with resource mobilization, with tool development, impact modeling, and economic and other analyses related to the SHF investment case as required. 
• Provide technical assistance with website development, including the development of a results dashboard and online knowledge platform contributing to the dissemination of quality evidence and enhancing the reach and impact of SHF strategic information.
• Perform other duties related to research, monitoring and evaluation as required.

Impact of Provided Services 

The work of the data analyst will contribute to specific deliverables including: (a) tool development, data analysis and data visualization in support of the SHF strategy 2021-2025, the SHF investment case and the SHF results dashboard, (b) the development of SHF key performance indicators and targets, and background and guidance documents related to the SHF results and M&E frameworks, and (c) the outline of a performance-based disbursement policy and an online financial and results reporting tool for the SHF.

• A Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Public Health or other relevant field is required. 

• A Bachelor degree with two additional years of experience in the above fields may be considered in lieu of the requirement of a Master.

• Fluency in both written and spoken English is required. 

• French language skills are desired.

Contract type: Individual Contractor Agreement
