The Communications Intern will work in the Communications Unit in the LIFT office in Yangon. The role will focus primarily on producing communications materials for UNOPS-managed LIFT projects. These projects are varied, covering a range of development sectors. The work of the unit is diverse and requires a significant level of multitasking. The intern will be required to deliver high quality products to tight deadlines. Additionally, the Communications Intern will also closely coordinate with LIFT programme units as well as the other funds’ communication and partnership units under the UNOPS Myanmar office.
The Communications Intern shall be responsible for performing the following duties:

Assist in design, layout and format of publications, and other printed and web-based communications materials, to LIFT and UNOPS branding guidelines.

Assist the in-house Graphic Designer and develop design and layout options for the assigned tasks and suggest alternative options for better presentation when necessary.

Assist to develop infographics to present key messages and organise various sets of information into clearly illustrated visual presentations.

Support in providing a comprehensive graphic guide or note on color schemes, margins and paper types to print houses.

Participate in discussions to brainstorm design ideas for newsletter, factsheets, web contents etc. in line with LIFT and UNOPS brand and style guidelines.

Assist in the production and editing of short videos and photos for the web.

Assist with internal/external communications, including the production of graphic elements for LIFT social media channels.

Assist in the admin and procurement work of the communications unit.

Provide a monthly report on deliverables and discuss learning and development with the team during the assignment.

Prepare a monthly media and social media monitoring update of LIFT and partners’ activities.
Training components and participation in missions
UNOPS highly values interns' contribution and appreciates the importance of learning during an internship. UNOPS thus provides a wealth of opportunities for on-the-job training, studying project-related documents, data analysis and preparation of reports and statistics. UNOPS encourages the intern to raise specific wishes regarding learning opportunities before and during the internship.
The intern will be required to take BSAFE course before arrival and the Department of Safety and Security briefing immediately after arrival. S/he will take the online UN and UNOPS induction courses on arrival. The intern will participate in UNOPS Myanmar’s Induction Training, which comprehensively covers all aspects of UNOPS work in Myanmar. S/he will have access to a large offering of online training on the comprehensive UNOPS intranet and opportunities to communicate with UNOPS HQ, Regional Office, and other country offices.
Terms and Conditions
The intern is responsible for all costs associated with the internship (e.g. accommodation, health insurance, travel and necessary visa arrangements).
UNOPS Myanmar will provide the intern with the following:

LIFT is currently working from home and you will be provided a laptop

When the office resume the back-to-office policy, you will work together with the Communications team in shared office including computer, stationery and landline telephone

A small stipend for those not receiving any funding from other institutions

If mission travel is undertaken, Daily Subsistence Allowance, in accordance with UN policy
At the end of this internship, the successful candidate will have gained:

The internship comes with no expectations of future employment with UNOPS as a direct result of the internship. The internship is offered for a period of 6 months. Candidates who are unable to commit to 6 months are requested to not apply.
