The retainer will support the SSC/HSSE Social and Environmental Specialist with a variety of tasks, work packages and projects dealing with SE management, including the planning, preparation and delivery of the corporate Environmental Inventory. We are seeking qualified applicants who may have Environmental Management, Social Development Studies, Sustainability, Engineering, Political Science or a related subject as background.

Since 2010 UNOPS performs a greenhouse gas inventory of its operations, covering its scope 1, scope 2 emissions and emissions from business travel. During the years, the inventory has expanded to include waste and water reporting, and it is constantly reworked to improve coverage, accuracy and data quality. In addition to reporting, UNOPS has a Social and Environmental (SE) management system that aims at mitigating the impacts on our activities worldwide. Climate mitigation in particular is becoming an increasingly important area of activity. This is coordinated by the SSC/HSSE team in HQ, which is looking for a retainer to support the 2024 reporting round, and its other activities.

The Analyst will report to the Social and Environmental Specialist and work in collaboration with the regional offices, and with the wider network of Country Office focal points appointed to perform the Environmental Inventory.
