ICT Specialist (Internal Candidates only)

UNOPS supports partners to build a better future by providing services that increase the  efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of peace building, humanitarian and development  projects.  Mandated as a central resource of the United Nations, UNOPS provides sustainable  project management, procurement and infrastructure services to a wide range of governments,  donors and United Nations organizations.  

The New York Portfolios Office (NYPO) supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as  other New York-based United Nations organizations, bilateral and multilateral partners in the  delivery of UNOPS mandate in project management, infrastructure management, and  procurement management.  

The Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports diverse partners with their  peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development operations. It was formed by combining the  following portfolios: Grants Management Services (GMS), UN Technology Support Services  (UNTSS), Development and Special Initiatives Portfolio (DSIP) It provides Services to partners'  programmes that are designed, structured, and managed with a global perspective and  primarily serving partners that are headquartered in New York. The SDC has a footprint of  approximately 125 countries. 

The ICT Specialist will carry out his/her tasks at Valencia, Spain office. 

The incumbent of this position will be a staff member of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Under the overall supervision of UNOPS Senior Programme Manager or designated person,  the incumbent works under the guidance of Information Systems Officer, with delegated  authority, the incumbent will be responsible to perform following tasks:

2. Enable application transformation from legacy platforms to new technologies 
3. Perform system analysis for Microsoft 365 and Commercial Cloud solutions 
4. Manage the application transformation capacity 

Description of Functions: 

1. Client Interactions: 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their  business objectives, challenges, and preferences. 
• Coordinate meetings, presentations, and other interactions with clients to provide  updates, gather feedback, and discuss project progress.  
• Collaborate with clients to identify and act as a liaison between clients and internal  teams to address and resolve any issues or challenges that may arise during the  course of the engagement. 

• Perform business analysis, functional and technical requirements, prepare related  documentation.  
• Review and research possible technology solutions within the approved, standard  framework 
• Provide tier-3 support for all managed applications and act as a focal point. 

• Design and implement commercial cloud and Microsoft 365 solutions and provide guidance on services and licensing to the internal teams. 
• Collaborate with the could administrators and service management teams on  architecture reviews, onboarding, and provisioning of components. 
• Stay informed about updates, assessing their relevance to the organization. 

4. Manage the Application Transformation capacity 

• Provide team oversight and manage projects and activities ensure that all reports  are produced and submitted within the deadlines.  
• Prepare unit workplan and develop clear team objectives and KPIs for the FA • Ensure projects are delivered and are compliant with OICT quality standards  throughout the application development life cycle. 

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in  information technology, computer science, engineering, electronics or in a  field related to the post description. 
• A first level university degree with a combination of relevant academic  qualifications and experience in information technology, computer  science, engineering, electronics or in a field related to the post  description may be accepted in lieu of advanced university degree.
