UNOPS has been present in Bangladesh since 2003. In 2014 UNOPS was established as a formal representation as a response to the UNOPS Executive Board in order to provide more substantial support to the Government of Bangladesh and other clients in the different areas focusing to Resilient Infrastructure Approach, Program & Project Management, Fund Management, Procurement, Human Resources, Financial Management emphasizing on building national capacities, improving the resilience of communities with a view of contributing to the implementation of the SDGs.

UNOPS Bangladesh has signed a project agreement to provide PSA plants and plant rooms at 29 hospital sites in Bangladesh with Global Fund support. The Project shall involve the provision of emergency procurement support to strengthen the oxygen therapy capacity in Bangladesh. Under this project, UNOPS will procure and install PSA plants at 29 hospitals across Bangladesh. This project is a part of the Bangladesh COVID- 19 response plan of the Government of Bangladesh. Negotiations are at the final stage to extend the scope of the project to include the construction of plant rooms at these 29 locations by UNOPS.

The Civil Engineer is a member of the infrastructure and engineering supervision team of the Project. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Infrastructure Specialist, the Civil Engineer coordinates the day-to-day construction activities across all projects under the engagement, in coordination with relevant team members.
The Construction Management Engineer demonstrates to engineering teams best practices and techniques
of key technical and construction management work areas, extensive practical experience in performing practical construction activities and supervising works in compliance with quality assurance and quality control and extensive skills in the mobilisation and management of labours, occupational health and safety as well as environmental management standards on site. The Civil Engineer will be based in Dhaka and is expected to travel across all project sites, as required.
