Data Analyst

The OCHA Information Services Section Corporate Reporting Section (ISS/CRS) is responsible for the delivery of Business Intelligence services that satisfy the requirements of OCHA clients.

The Data Analyst will play a technical role in developing data components which will bring information into analytics and visualizations to support strategic decision making.

The Data Analyst will report to the Chief ISS.

The Data Analyst will be responsible for the following:

• Gather, analyze and visualize a broad range of existing data sources;
• Prepare quick visualization in Tableau and Power BI to present data in a meaningful and clear manner;
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis;
• Design data marts within enterprise data hub;
• Develop multidimensional data models, including performance measures, to enable scorecard analysis;
• Develop cubes and database views to expose data to visualization tools;
• Develop documentation and training materials;
• Assist Chief CRS with data and analytic related problems;
• Oversight and curation of data analytics for the relevant pages (e.g. country, region, crisis, or topic)

Education 

• Advanced degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems / Technology, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
• A first level university degree with additional two years of relevant academic and/or practical experience in information and communications technology may be accepted in lieu of advanced university degree.

Work Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in developing data visualizations using Tableau or Power BI;
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in development, implementation and maintenance of data systems and ETLs or related areas;
• Minimum of one (1) year in-depth experience in Tableau / Qlik;
• Experience developing with Microsoft SQL Server Integration;
• Experience in database modelling and data mart design;
• Experience in data automation techniques and dashboard development.

Language

Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of a second official UN language is an advantage.
