UN Environment has designed sustainable development and
environment management projects and supported their implementation in Haiti
since 2009. The project portfolio is implemented from 2 offices: the Country Programme
office in Port Salut, South Department and the liaison office in the capital
Port au Prince.
The majority of the UN Environment’s current portfolio,
which is value at approximately USD 40 million, is concentrated in the South
Department. Key focus areas include protected area creation and management,
marine environmental management, forestry, agroforestry and agriculture, and
sustainable energy.
The programmatic areas in the South of Haiti are financed by
different funding sources. Bilateral funding from Norway is complemented by
Global Environment Facility and French Agency for International Development financing.
UN Environment Haiti is looking for a Project Manager for
the Macaya Grand Sud Phase 2 project, which constitutes the operational
backbone of the UN Environment’s support to the South. The Project Manager will
work under the overall supervision of the Country Programme Manager.
