Partnerships Analyst

UNDP’s Global Programme on Nature for Development brings together three different initiatives – the Equator Initiative, the New York Declaration on Forests Global Platform, and the National Biodiversity Initiative under one program in order to identify, foster, showcase and celebrate nature-based solutions that help achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at local, national, and international levels. The work of the Global Programme on Nature for Development contributes to UNDP's Strategic Plan 2018-2021 by charting sustainable development pathways through the conservation, restoration and sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystems; and by promoting inclusive and effective democratic governance in the area of natural resources.

In addition, the project engages in knowledge sharing about nature-based solutions and has an extensive distance-learning program. It also focuses on advocacy efforts to improve the implementation and uptake of nature-based solutions to achieve sustainable development.

Provide support to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) pavilion

• Provide support to the IPLC pavilion during the World Conservation Congress, including supporting the pavilion calendar, events, catering requests, translations
• Provide support to the Project Manager in identifying key partners
• Liaise directly with the French Government counterpart and IUCN to plan the IPLC pavilion
• Provide support to collaboration with key partners
• Provide support to on-the-ground logistics

Provide support to the Equator Prize

• Support the nomination review process
• Support the creation of communications materials in multiple languages
• Support communications with key partners on the Equator Prize ceremony
• Identify and fill key logistics gaps for the Equator Prize ceremony

Provide support to the Equator Dialogues

• Support training and communications for the Equator Prize winners
• Support peer-to-peer learning and exchange between winners
• Provide support to data gathering for case studies

• Identify potential pathways of scaling up Equator Prize solutions through communications, advocacy, policy and finance, among other pathways.

 Monitoring and Progress Controls

• Ongoing feedbacks on performance are provided by the Manager of Global Programme on Nature for Development

 Education

• University degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in communications, business or public administration, finance, accounting, law, social sciences or related area, preferably with a specialisation in environment.

Work Experience

• A minimum of two years of experience in communications, outreach, indigenous peoples or local communities
• Experience with coordinating events, especially related to IPLCs.
• Experience related to global prize/s considered an asset
• Experience supporting communications directly with indigenous peoples and local communities is an asset.

Language

• Fluency and excellent writing ability in English is required.
• Fluency and excellent writing ability in French is required.
• Fluency and excellent writing ability in additional languages is considered an asset, in particular UN languages and Portuguese

Based in New York, the Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports diverse partners with their peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations.

The SDC’s services include grants management, development and special initiatives support, and technology support to the UN and UN agencies.

The SDC is part of the New York Service Cluster that supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as a broadening community of other New York-based United Nations organizations, bilateral and multilateral partners in the delivery of UNOPS mandate in project management, infrastructure management, and procurement management.
