Under
the overall guidance and supervision of the Head of Support Services, the Logistics
Assistant assists in the provision of logistics and customs clearance, ensuring
high quality and accuracy of work. The Logistics Assistant promotes a client,
quality and results-oriented approach.
The Logistics
Assistant works in close collaboration with support services staff,
administration staff and other programme staff, as well as with staff of other
UN agencies to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery.
The
incumbent is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative
instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and
that of UNOPS.

Ensuring proper maintenance, management, storage of all equipment and
property managed by the programme managed by the office, in accordance with
UNOPS equipment policy
·
Establishment and maintenance of accurate inventory lists using WASP
Inventory Management System. This includes recording all inventory movements.
·
Prepare and issue equipment and supplies as required to individuals and
offices. Ensure proper documentation for approvals and receipt of
goods/equipment are maintained.
·
Assist in sourcing suppliers and obtaining quotes for procurement of
items under $2,500.
·
Organise transport of goods between all Mine Action Mali Offices.
·
Maintain effective liaison with suppliers to ensure timely delivery or
goods and rectify quality deficiencies;
Provides Custom
Clearance Support, focusing on achievement of the following results:

Liaise with Procurement team to receive documents of the incoming
shipments from international vendors.
·
Prepare customs clearance documents for shipments arriving in Mali for
Mine Action Mali Programme.
·
Liaise with respective UN agencies/Mali ministries to get clearance
letters and approvals on time before arrival of shipment in country.
·
Ensure timely receipt of clearance letters from ministries and delivery
of goods
·
Arrange transport of goods from the customs point to the UNMAS Offices.
·
Maintain log of all delivered cargo/shipment.
·
Ensure registration of vehicles upon arrival in Mali.
·
Ensure all damaged goods in transit are reported to the supervisor in
timely manner.
·
Conduct follow up action on delayed clearance letters, clearance
activities and deliveries and inform supervisor of status.
·
Conduct detailed inspection of all goods, raise Receipt Inspection
Report, notify supervisor of any faults in quantity and quantity of deliveries.
Any other duties as requested and tasked by the Head
of Support Services supervisor.
